Allan, Apple Telecom software works just fine with my PC modem (Megahertz
XJA556) in the lower slot in a PB1400c/G3 U/G and 8.5.1.

File Buddy is quite simply the best utility available for working with
files and folders on your Macintosh. First released more than six years
ago, it has been continually enhanced, improved, and supported since
that time.
*View and edit a wide range of file and folder information.
*Create droplet applications that automatically apply changes
to items dropped on them, including the contents of folders.
*Find files and folders using an extensive set of search criteria.
Enhance file searches with plug-ins that extend file search
capabilities. Conveniently perform a wide variety of actions on found
items. Make File Buddy your default file finding application using the
File Buddy CP control panel.
*Modify the names of multiple files at once. For example,
remove ".txt" from the names of a group of files.
*Use contextual menus to accomplish many tasks in a single

Mail Forward allows you to forward mail from up to 20 Microsoft
Hotmail or standard POP e-mail accounts to any e-mail address.
Mail Forward works by accessing your Microsoft Hotmail In Box or POP
mailbox and forwarding each piece of mail through your SMTP mail
server. As each message is successfully forwarded, it is cleared from
the Hotmail In Box or POP mailbox.
The Hotmail or POP account e-mail address is used as the return
address for the forwarded mail, so if the mail is undeliverable it
will be bounced back to the original account.
LIMITATIONS
This application requires the use of a standard SMTP mail server to
forward mail. It does not currently support SMTP servers that require
POP authentication before sending.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Mail Forward requires an Apple Macintosh or compatible with a
PowerPC, 68030 or greater processor, using Mac OS 7.6.1 or later.

powerful download-only client used to retrieve files from Hotline
servers. Pitbull can automatically recover from virtually any connection
problem that can occur during a file download without any user

resume any partial download you started without having to remember from

This is the Japanese version of the Rearrange Folders package.
Rearrange Folders is a program which lets you optimize the positioning
of windows of disks and folders in the Finder. You can specify where the
window for a disk or folder should open and Rearrange Folders takes care
that any folder inside that folder will open neatly stacked on top of
the first folder so that your screen does not get so cluttered.
Additionally, you can specify how the items in the windows should be
ordered and you can choose whether to display the contents as icons,
buttons or list view. � �
Examples of uses for Rearrange Folders
Normal users:
Clean up the window positions on your screen. Make it
easier to navigate through multiple levels of folders because you can
have windows stacked in such a way that you can always see parts of any
window. You do not need to close windows again only to be able to see
other windows which get buried under other windows!
CD-ROM authoring, Programmers, Shareware authors:
Before burning a CD-ROM you can determine where the various windows
for folders on the CD will open on the screen. Your CD will look more
professional when the windows do not appear in random locations.
You can also ensure that the windows are always visible even when the
users of your CDs are having smaller screens than you have. �
System requirements for Rearrange Folders:
Rearrange Folders should run
on all Apple Power Macintosh and PowerBook computers with a PowerPC
processor and Mac OS 9. The Finder has to be running for Rearrange
Folders to function. While Rearrange Folders may also run with earlier
version of MacOS, we do not guarantee nor do we support such
configurations.

Have you ever crashed after typing for an hour and forgot to save your
work? Well, I have! I was tired of losing my work and forgetting to
save periodically, so, I created TypeSaver. It's a very simple program.
Just drop TypeSaver into the Control Panels folder and restart. Now,
every key you press (you can define which keys to save or ignore) will be
saved to a file after a specified number of keystrokes (from 10 to 1000).
This is an excellent way to make sure you won't lose any typing because
of a crash or an easy way to keep track of what other people are doing on
your computer when you're not around! The folder that contains the
file(s) that the keystrokes are saved to can be hidden and this control
panel can be locked and password protected if you wish.
Another handy feature of TypeSaver is the ability to auto-save documents
in any application after a specified number of keystrokes or mouse clicks.

Why can't I open email enclosures (.doc, etc) with Appleworks 5? (MacOS9) My
husband says WordPerfect is the "industry standard" yet Appleworks just says
"thetranslator cannot open this file." What am I missing?
BBEdit Lite will open in an emergency but there is still much tweaking to do
and all the formatting is lost, or course.
Is there an alternative to the $99 MacLinkPlus?

Dear Gurus,
hoping someone can help me with the following dilemma:
I have a G3 Powerbook (bronze) which I connect to a 19" DELL P991 monitor.
On random occasions, the number of available resolutions on my control
strip changes. Sometimes it lets me run 1152 x 870 (at millions of colour)
however most times it only shows the standard 640, 800, 600, 1024 and 1960
resolutions, but nothing inbetween them. I have no idea what is going on
with it.
Sometimes I'll be running it at 1152, then after waking it from sleep it
just pops the res back to 1024 and 1152 is not even available on the control
stip anymore.
The Powerbook has 8mb of VRAM and can run a 19" screen at 1152 (because I
have done it many times) but there seems to be no rhyme or reason why
sometimes the resolutions are availabe and sometimes they are not.
I have tried the following:
- update ATI drivers
- update display drivers
- zap PRAM
- start mac first, then monitor and vice versa
If anyone can help with this I would be most grateful.

Your best bet may be to ask the IT department to contact the Gartner
Group http://www.gartner.com one of the leading industry research
firms with no reason to tout a particular platform. Gartner, of
course, SELLS their findings, but basic facts have been widely
reported, and they have consistently demonstrated that the five year
cost (to business) of owning and using Macs is LESS than PeeCees
(Wintel and otherwise).
I've been a Mac user in a Wintel environment for more than a decade.
I started because I needed to run software that wasn't limited by the
then 640K barrier. I've stuck with it because I have the Mac software
already and while PeeCees may have some difficulty understanding
Macs, Macs have no problem understanding PeeCees (I sometimes
translate PeeCee documents from one format to another for colleagues
:-) In a pinch, a G3 or G4 can run Win95 (98, 2000, or even NT) just
fine with VirtualPC (there's a performance hit, but a 500 MHz G4 is
so much more powerful that an 1GHz PeeCee that it's hard to notice).
I help people deal with Wintel insanity. Macs really are
plug-and-play (have been for a decade); Wintel is more
"plug-and-pray." The more I work with Windoze, the more I like the
Mac :-)
