The phone call comes from Jake's wife, and she is spitting mad.
"He's done it again. I TOLD him I was in the middle of an experiment. I
TOLD him I'd come with him if he'd just hang on a couple of weeks. But does
he ever listen?"
Jake heard about another abandoned building designed by the architect of
The Tower, so of course he had to go check it out. And that's the last
anyone's heard of him.
"This house, unlike The Tower, was built for a cheapskate who cut corners
wherever he could, so don't expect to find any of those twelve-foot-thick
walls with hidden staircases. There's probably some treasure, though. There
always is."
Who could resist an invitation like that? Not Jake, obviously...
   And not you.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Mac with 256 or more colors, 12" or larger monitor, 32-bit QuickDraw, 2 (or
more) sound channels). Prefers 2.4 MB free RAM but can run on less.

Subject: [*] ACE! 1.5 - An extendable save game editor

ACE! allows you to edit the 'save game' documents created by many
commercial and shareware games (these documents are referred to as
'characters' by some games). Additionally, ACE! allows you to print details
of these save games.

Initially, you can edit the save games from Abuse, Bard's Tale, Curse of
Dragor, Damage Incorporated, Death Blade, Doom (1, 2 and Ultimate), Escape
Velocity (standard and Override), Foobar vs the DEA, Harry the Handsome
Executive, Heroes of Might & Magic (1 and 2), Jewel of Arabia - Dreamers,
King's Bounty, Mantra, Marathon (1, 2, Infinity, Excalibur and Evil), Might
and Magic (1, 2 and 3), Omega (version 0.75 and 0.80), Pathways into
Darkness, Realmz, Ultima III, Unlimited Adventures, Wizardry Gold and Yipe!
III. However, ACE! can be extended to edit other save games through the use
of plug-in 'modules'.

ACE! is freeware.

ACE! will run on any Macintosh or MacOS compatible computer. It requires a
minimum of System 7.0 or higher, 350k of disc space, and 384k of free RAM
(preferred 850k and 1500k respectively).

Version 1.5 adds many new scripts to manipulate lists, new modules for
Heroes of Might & Magic II and Death Blade, and also incorporates some bug
fixes and enhancements.

Subject: [*] clip2icns 1.5.1: create & edit OS 8.5 32-bit icons

clip2icns is a little utility is designed to help you create 32 bit
icons (which are available under MacOS 8.5 and above). Since Apple has
chosen (for the time being) not to release an editor, I've created
clip2icns to fill that gap. It takes a picture from the clipboard,
splits it up into the icon and mask, and either inserts it into a
current file or makes a new icon.

New in this version:
1.5.1 February 27 1999
 - clip2icns should work again under pre 8.5 systems
 - an error message is now displayed if a file that's in use is opened
 - icons with custom IDs should be displayed properly

GIFCruncher Desktop Demo for Macintosh
Early Access Release EA5 - 02/23/1999

Welcome to GIFCruncher Desktop Demo for Macintosh. GIFCruncher Desktop is a
Web graphics utility developed by Spinwave.com that allows you to select a
GIF from your desktop or an HTTP or FTP URL, and automatically reduce the
download time and file size of the GIF by up to 90%. Auto mode generates
several optimized versions, and you decide on the best tradeoff between
file size and quality. GIFCruncher does this while you wait - single
optimizations generally only take a few seconds.

This demo allows full single-GIF crunching, but times out after 15 days
from the first use. It also has no batch capability. The full version of
GIFCruncher has a sophisticated batch feature that can process entire web
sites automatically. In order to get this capability, you will need to
purchase and download the full version of the product ($49.95). Please view
the file purchase.html for details on purchasing GIFCruncher Desktop, or
visit http://www.gifcruncher.com/desktop/ . You can also try out all of the
features of online GIFCruncher for two weeks by selecting Free Trial at
http://www.gifcruncher.com .

System Requirements: Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) 2.1
Available for free download at http://www.apple.com/java/ .

Subject: [*] SimpleImage 2.0.3

SimpleImage is a simple but powerful image- and movie-viewing application
that lets you view all the most popular image and movie formats, like JPEG,
GIF, animated GIF, TIFF, PICT, PNG, MPEG, AVI and more in a single, sleek
application. (Some file types may require QuickTime 3 or a Power Macintosh.)

With SimpleImage you can
o View images with or without scrollbars
o Transform images and movies by rotating and reflecting them
o Crop and zoom images
o View images and movies full-screen or in a slide show
o Create Snapshots -- small files you can double click to reopen groups of
windows exactly the way you left them

With QuickTime 3 SimpleImage can also be used as a simple conversion
utility, with the ability to save both images and movies in several formats.

SimpleImage is Mac OS 8 savvy, correctly adopting the new Mac OS 8 look and
making extensive use of contextual menus.

System Requirements
Macintosh with a 68040 processor
3 MB of free RAM
Monitor capable of displaying 256 colors
System 7.5.5
QuickTime 2.5

Strongly Recommended
Power Macintosh
Lots of free RAM
Monitor capable of displaying thousands or millions of colors
Mac OS 8 or later
QuickTime 3.0 or later

Version 2.0.3 is a maintenance release that fixes several bugs and adds the
ability to save Fast Start movies for the Internet (requires QuickTime 3).

Version 2.0 adds a bunch of new features, including

o Revamped slide show -- now you can have SimpleImage cycle through the
items in a folder and display them in a slide show.
o Info window -- you can now see useful, dynamic information about an image
or movie.
o Open menu -- A new Open sub-menu now appears in every window's contextual
menu, showing the folder the item is in and all the items in the folder
that SimpleImage can open.
o More robust Snapshots -- new, more comprehensive search abilities make it
easier to find Snapshot items that have been moved to different disks.
o Numerous other tweaks and improvements -- redesigned preferences dialog

SoundCalc is a music and sound conversion calculator which freely and
simultaneously converts between: Frequency, Note Names, MIDI Note
Numbers, Wavelengths, SampleRates, FrameRates, BPM, and more. Conversion
can happen in any direction - from any supported unit to any other
unit(s).

SoundCalc knows about the following parameters and units: FREQUENCY in
Hz and kHz, PITCH as notes and MIDI note numbers, WAVELENGTH in meters,
centimeters, feet, inches, and yards, DURATION (of one wavelength) in
seconds, milliseconds, samples (at all common samplerates), video frames,
perfs and SMPTE bits (at all common video rates), and note values at a
given TEMPO. You type in a parameter that you know, click Convert, and
SoundCalc figures out all the other parameters.
