Cannons and Castles 2.0.1
(C) 1997 by Andy Lyttle <phroggy@cryogen.com>

This is a Macintosh port of an Apple II game called Cannons and Castles.
It's a two-player game; each player gets a castle on either side of a hill
and must try to blow up the other player by typing in the angle and
velocity of their shot. Version 2.0 added color, more stability, the
ability to save games, Balloon Help, and several other features. Version
2.0.1 fixes a bug that caused the game to be unplayable on machines
running System 6, as well as making a few other minor improvements.

Cannons and Castles 2.0.1 is Shareware; you may use it for 30 days, after
which time I ask that you pay the $10 fee.

Cannons and Castles requires HyperCard 2.2 or higher, or the HyperCard
Player 2.2 or higher. HyperCard 2.2 requires System 6.0.5 or higher.

For more information, see the Cannons and Castles Home Page at:

Steven L. Wood Publications releases:
MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled MULTIPLICATION for Special Learners, 3.0.1.

It's here! After over a year of development and testing, Steven L. Wood
Publications today released MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled
MULTIPLICATION for Special Learners, version 3.0. Now in the Adobe
Acrobat PDF format, MD2:FCMfSpL is still the unique tool for teaching
multiplication computation. It retains the previous MD2 philosophy of
teaching math with fact support, much like a controlled vocabulary in
reading. Both special learners and regular education students benefit
from its thorough and systematic approach. And, it is still published a
computer document--buy it once, use it forever.

What's new in 3.0? *An all new task analysis of the steps in
multiplication is employed. *Pages are restricted to one new step per
page. *Platform Independent: Adobe Acrobat .pdf documents--uses free
Acrobat Reader that is available for many platforms (Mac, Win 3.1, Win
95, etc.) *Fact support on all pages of the basic blackline/color
worksheets. *Grid overlays for keeping answers organized in 2 and
3-digit multiplier problems. *Flash cards that parallel the organization
of MD2FCMfSpL.

What do you get? (PDF Version)
*Blackline Masters-99 blackline masters comprise the basic package. Each
page contains a factstrip or factbar presenting and previewing the facts
to be used on the page. Worksheets follow a logical and thorough
progression through the operation of multiplication computation.
*Compete Answer Sheets-A set of 99 answer sheets is included.
Sub-answers are always included, so teachers may do what they've been
trained to do: diagnose and teach.

Version 3.0.1 includes corrections of several typographical errors and a
fix in offset for printing.

MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled MULTIPLICATION for Special Learners,
version 3.0.1, is shareware. You may download the Adobe Acrobat .pdf
file to "test-drive" it. No extra applications are necessary, other than
the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0. Registration of the PDF version for
Macintosh or Windows is just $10. Fully editable ClarisWorks versions
are $25 (currently Mac only).

Subject: [*] iView 2.8.6

iView 2.8.6 the (Photoshop Compatible) Multimedia Organizer for the Mac
iView 2.8.6 is an essential utility that is the simplest and easiest way
to catalog multimedia files. Organize your images, fonts, clip art, qtvr
and more.

iView is an extremely handy utility that keeps track of all your image,
animation and movie files. Tired of searching thru disks and CD's trying
to locate that special photo or clip art you saw just last week? iView
is exactly what you need. iView goes far beyond the Mac's simple
scrapbook utility and allows you to view and organize many types of
multimedia files on all your disks whether mounted or not. Some of the
types currently supported include: JPEG, GIF, GIFf, TIFF, TIF,
Single-layer Photoshop, Silicon Graphics and of course PICT files,
QuickTime movies, QuickTimeVR, Fonts, GIF animations and if XTND is
installed EPS, clips, and startup screens. iView displays images as a
list of file names, list of thumbnails, variable sized image, or as a
slide show. Images can then be cataloged, launched with the application
that created them, printed in custom reports, saved as a QuickTime=81
movie, copied to the clipboard, or dragged as clips/files/HTML formatted
pathnames to the finder or any drag & drop savvy application. Catalogs
can be searched and saved on your hard disk. A catalog can also display
thumbnail images from volumes that may not be mounted. iView will let
you view the images and prompt you to insert the volume to retrieve an
image when needed.

iView makes extensive use of drag and drop which makes it a pleasure to
use with the finder, photoshop and many other applications. In fact,
everything about iView is designed to be simple, useful and intuitive.
iView eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability to
get the job done. It makes image reuse and playback quick and easy. Now
individuals as well as publishers, designers, pre-press operators and
multi-media programmers will never have to search through stacks of
Zip/SyQuest back-ups for missing files ever again.

Also, new and free to download at the above url are:
iView - Easy & powerful image viewing and cataloging (Macweek 5/19 p.19);
KnowledgeMiner - Revolutionary statistical learning and modeling program;
Touch3D - A 3D program that unfolds objects so they can be printed and creat=
ed;
iSearch - Find text fast in any file or on any disk or cd;
iCount - A supercomputer compared with the old Mac calculator.

esp Software has just announced the release of version 1.5 of their
Macintosh QuickTime movie-building utility software, MooVer, now in
English, German and Japanese languages. This is the Japanese (nihongo)
localized version. MooVer was awarded 5 mice on MacUser's Software
Central site
<http://www.hotfiles.com/swbrowse/MC10/4/0/mac-MC10404.html>! MooVer is
a $10 USA shareware Macintosh utility that creates a QuickTime movie from
a sequence of image and sound files dropped onto it. It is perfect for
creating computer animations, slide shows, or batch-converting images or
sounds into QuickTime movie format. MooVer's goal is to let you create
QuickTime movies quickly and easily. It is not intended to be a large
full-featured movie editing program, but is instead a simple,
easy-to-use movie builder.

MooVer works on any 68020 or better Macintosh, and is accelerated for
PowerPC, and requires MacOS 7.1 or newer, and QuickTime 1.6 or newer.

MooVer can read the following kinds of files as input: Macintosh Pict
files, PICS animation files, Targa files, and System 7 sound files.
MooVer will combine and compress all of the the image and sound files
into a single QuickTime movie file, which can then be played back on any
Macintosh-compatible or "Wintel"-compatible computer using QuickTime and
a movie-player application. MooVer has some additional features that make
it useful for special purpose projects:
+ A folder full of image files can be dropped onto MooVer for large-scale
batch processing.
+ It has a "Quiet Mode" where it will use previously chosen settings for
any new movies, without prompting for settings each time.
+ It can be driven by simple AppleScript commands for automated movie
making.
+ It can add each file name or user-defined strings as subtitles under
each frame.
+ Movies can be saved in Mac OS-QuickTime or cross-platform-QuickTime
(flattened) format.
+ It will pass any alpha channel information through to the movie for
transparent or "blue-screen" effects.
