This is the Japanese version of the FinderWindows package.
Have you ever wished that the Finder had a simple "Window" menu like many
other applications? Finder Windows 1.2 is a control panel that adds a
"Window" menu to the Finder. You can now see a list of all the Finder's
open windows, choose among them, stack them, and arrange them.
Finder Windows requires System 7 or higher.
Finder Windows 1.2.1 improves stability and fixes several bugs in Finder
Windows 1.2 including: A shut-down bug, a bug that interfered with the
printing mechanism on certain versions of WordPerfect, and a cosmetic bug
in which window name in the menu weren't updated properly. It also
consolidates PowerPC-native and 680x0 "INIT" code into fat INIT code and
removes PowerPC-native control panel (cdev) code. This was made necessary
on the advice of Apple Computer, Inc. due to a conflict between the Finder
and PowerPC-native control panels. This conflict was most common under
System 7.5.5.

David's Kaleidoscope Hi-Tech Schemes Collection contains sixteen (16)
carefully crafted new color schemes for use with Kaleidoscope, the now
famous control panel written by Greg Landweber, Edward Voas and Frederick
Bass.
David's Kaleidoscope Hi-Tech Schemes Collection is shareware and costs $10.
Registrations are handled by Kagi Shareware.
The present package contains only the "Demo Schemes" for you to try before
you decide whether you want to register the whole package. You can download
the complete collection from my Web site located at

an encrypted self-extracting archive. You'll receive the password to
decrypt the archive as soon as you register.
I have also designed a collection of "Silver" color schemes based on the

file named "kaleidoscope-silver-schemes.hqx" or
"kalscp-silver-schemes.hqx"). The complete collection contains sixteen more

Kalk is a simple RPN calculator, with a 30-level stack, that knows the four
basic
operations plus some trig and log functions. There are lots of desktop
calculators out there. Why one more? I made this one for my own personal use,
because I wanted a RPN calculator, but not that huge monsters I've seen around,
almost complete implementations of scientific HP machines. Those were great
calculators, but they fill almost the whole screen with tens of buttons and
switches. At the end of one week I usually was back to the classic Apple calc,
because it's small, fast, doesn't create auxiliary files on the disk, and don't
have big manuals. So, the first goal on Kalk design was to make its window the
same size of Apple's. Then remove all digit buttons from the panel, making area
for more information (6 or 17 of the 30 levels of the stack are shown). The
only
buttons remaining are those used everytime and those that are hard to remember
without a label (Drop, Swap, Enter, Undo, Change Sign, Clear). Digits are
entered
via keyboard, and the special functions are grouped on the "Kalk" menu. Using
Kalk is very like doing simple math on a 28- or 48-series HP calculator. As for
the Apple calc, the numeric keypad of your keyboard (hope you have one) is the
best choice.
There is now a WWW home page about Kalk in general. If you're interested,

file to the Kalk release, so you can simply open the "Visit Kalk Home.html"

store small notes describing up to twenty "things to do" or "pending
topics". Being a small application with a low memory footprint, it can be

Recent research on productivity shows that one person trying to remember
more than 10 things to do at a time losses its real effectivity. So it's

How it works?

NOTE: PowerSaver Tweak was formerly known as PowerBook Tweak. I have
renamed it to better reflect its ability to run on desktop Power
Macintoshes in addition to PowerBooks.
PowerSaver Tweak is a utility for Macintoshes that gives you more control
over the power conservation settings than Apple's standard control panels.
It lets you configure the conservation settings for specific applications,
allowing you to tailor power conservation to best meet your usage needs.
It is compatible with PowerBook 500 and 5300 series, as well as PCI-based
Power Macintoshes and Performas.
You can configure the screen dimming, drive spindown, system sleep, and CPU
cycling for up to fifty applications (unregistered copies allow four). For
example, you can prevent your PowerBook from cycling while you are playing
a particular game. Or use PowerSaver Tweak so that your hard drive never
spins down while using Word.
Version 1.1.1 has these changes:
- Renamed to "PowerSaver Tweak" to better reflect it's abilities.
- Added support for core AppleEvent suite.
- Added code to gracefully exit PPC application on 68K Mac.

of the quirky behavior reported with Apple's Energy Saver 2.0. Sleeper is
well suited for unattended operations as well as personal desktop use. For
file servers, ftp and http hosts, and fax and BBS systems, Sleeper will
wake the drives up when they are needed and put them to sleep when they are
idle. Sleeper is easily configurable; it provides hotkey control for
on-demand activation of its sleep features, and separate delay settings for
screen dimming, monitor power down, and disk sleep.
Sleeper will work on any Macintosh running System 7 or higher, including
System 7.6, and will spin down both IDE and SCSI hard drives. The screen
saver feature requires a color-capable Macintosh, and Energy Star monitor
support requires an Energy Star compliant Macintosh (any Mac on which
Apple's Energy Saver control panel works) and an Energy Star capable
monitor. Sleeper supports SCSI Manager 4.3 in native mode on all machines
and requires only 26K of memory when operating.

This is the new version 2.3 of my implementation of the classic game
"Sokoban". It's different (and I hope better) than other people's versions
called MacSokoban and JSokoban.
In Sokoban, you have to move treasures through a twisty and narrow maze.
What makes it hard is that you can only push the treasures, not pull, and
can push only one treasure at a time, so you may have to move other
treasures out of the way first to get behind the one you want to push. And
moving those treasures out of the way of the first treasure might move them
behind another one or into a corner, and then there's no way to move the
treasure out of the corner.
The emphasis is on logic, not quick reflexes. The levels are not timed,
nor are you forced to solve them in order. Infinite undo and powerful
movement controls (several people have called the drag and drop movement
wonderful) let you concentrate on exercising your brain and solving the
puzzle instead of wasting time repeating the same moves over and over again.
This version includes the 50 classic levels along with nearly 400 more.
Once you have completed the challenge of solving the levels, try your hand
at creating new and devious levels for your friends or solving the levels
in as few moves as possible.
Major changes from version 2.2 to 2.3:
- Special sokoban font and drag and drop make level writing easier
- Quick-start help built into program
- Includes some levels for young children (4-8 years), so everyone in your
family can enjoy the game.
- Continues where you left off, even in the middle of solving a level
System requirements: System 7 or higher is recommended, but Sokoban also
works with system 6.
You may include Sokoban on the info-mac CD-ROM.

This promotional version of The Show Must Go FOND is identical to the full
version, which is available on the No-Hype Type CD, except that it will not
work past the end of 1997. It should replace any earlier versions of the
program (which will not work anymore anyway). The program is free to users
and is one way of letting font lovers know about the No-Hype Type CD, a
collection of 500 original typefaces (not shareware, not freeware, not
pirateware.) available from the author.
The Show Must Go FOND allows one to preview uninstalled fonts on the
screen. One just selects the folder or volume one wants to check out, and
TSMGF will find all the fonts in it and display them on the screen. In this
version one can select the sample text and size, and also choose to have
the text displayed anti-aliased, which gives a much better idea of what the
type will look like when it is printed. (After you see the anti-aliased
samples, you will never again want to use a font previewer that does not
anti-alias.)
The program may be included on any 1997 CD that will send me a complimentary
copy. It may not be modified in any way, and the readme must stay with it.
(I am sorry about the expiration date, but if it were not there, it would
be on all the font CDs that compete with mine. I really do not want to make
life simpler for those people.)

RSRC" in ResEdit, copy all of the PICT resources , open a COPY of the

paste (replacing existing ID numbers). Save, close, replace original
with newly patched copy (keeping original in a safe place for now) and
restart. Whew!

Subject: (Q) Networking to Macs with Ethernet?
Ok, here is the situation.
We have two Macs (7200 PPC & IIvx) here in the same room and finally
decided to put them on a new LAN.
The 7200 has built in ethernet. We had to buy an Ethernet Card for the
IIvx. A standard 10Base-T cable didn't work, as I understand there needs to
be crossover if just 2 devices on the network.
So, we bought a small hub (only $80) with 5 ports, thinking that we may add
other devices (printers, other Macs, maybe even a Wintel PC) in
the future.
Both Macs running 7.5.5 with Open Transport. Both set to AppleTalk over
Ethernet. Both having FileSharing activated.
When we go to the Chooser on either Mac and select Appleshare the hub LEDSs
for each machine flash for a while but nothing ever shows up in the right
hand side ("Select a File Server") of the Chooser.
We have successfully networked these computers using AppleTalk over the
Printer Port before, so we know AppleTalk works.
Any advice?

Anyone considering dealings with MacMall should read, and then =
re-read, Karen & Kims msg in Digest 15-33. While I cannot match the =
full horror of their experience, my past relationship with MacMall =
persuaded me to make a $4000 purchase with them last week.
Let me echo Karen & Kim: DON=B9T DO IT! MacMall appears to have =
become an equal-opportunity employer for some of the most determined =
incompetents it has been my pain to deal with. They appear to be in =
a chronic state of confusion and chaos and your (inevitable) need to =
resort to their customer service dept will involve (many) on-line =
waits of up to an hour only to meet with more confusion, and very =
possibly rudeness.
At the very least I suspect many orders will be unfilled or =
mis-filled and at the worst you could have a painful experience =
trying to get the mischarges lifted from your credit card.
This company can only be recommended to professional masochists! =
Avoid at ALL costs.
