The Atomic Mac is a periodic table of the elements for the Macintosh. In
addition to the usual information found in such programs, The Atomic Mac
also contains a wealth of nuclear information on each isotope, including
half life, decay mode, and daughter products. X-ray data (fluorescence and
binding energies) is also available. A molecular weight calculator makes it
easy to find the molecular weight of compounds. A shaded diagram showing
the ranges of physical properties makes it easy to visualize relationships
across the periodic table.

I understood that the files in OS X are related to the PDF format.

Does this mean that Acrobat Writer will not be needed to generate a
PDF using OS X and a PDF can be generated from any program, or will
one still need Acrobat Writer?

Thanks for the information!

Subject: powerbook "stall"

I have a walstreet power book 233MHz g3 using OS 8.6. On a frequent basis
(approx five times per active hour of use, or somewhat less) the powerbook
will "stall". The mouse cursor moves, but nothing else will happen. Scroll
bars don't work, I can't pull down windows, and keyboard shortcuts don't
work. Then after about one minute everything is fine. For instance I
stalled when typing "shortcuts" above. "sho" displayed, then nothing for
about a minute, then the remainder of the word displayed.

Obviously the energy saver control panel is a possibility. My settings are:
sleep - never
display dimming - 10 min
hard disk spin down - 15 min
no scheduled wakeup/sleep
processor cycling - no
turnoff display - no
turn off power to unused PC cards - no
reduce processor speed - no
reconnect on wake up - yes
These are the power adaptor settings
the battery settings are the same, except they allow processor cycling.

The problem is new - last few weeks. I can't think of new software
I have installed. Any ideas are very welcome.

Subject: Two DVD questions

After many years of absence, I find myself coming back to IM. So forgive me
if this was recently covered (is there an article archive somewhere, as
opposed to the program archive, I've forgotten, if I ever knew:-).

My questions are (having just purchased a G4 2x500MHz with 22 Cinema
Display and a DVD RAM):
1. Is there a hack, shareware or otherwise that will enable me to play both
R1 & R2 DVDs (after the 5 switch limit is up)?

2. Any software that will enable me to write a 'video' style DVD, ie one
that will play as as Film, in a standard basic DVD player?
